Our Responsibility

Collaborating with SHSI, libraries, schools, and newspaper publishers, we believe we can engage other like-minded Iowans to join us in our mission of preserving history as recorded in the pages of Iowa’s newspapers.

Advantage Preservation works with nearly 1100 libraries in 27 states and 430 cities, representing around 50M newspaper pages. We have over 500 online library collections with nearly 50 million digital images hosted for libraries from cost to coast. We are proud of our relationships that span from one coast to the other, and of our national reputation…but we are especially proud of our reputation closer to home.

In 1857 the State Historical Society of Iowa was founded with a mission of preserving Iowa’s history and to make this history available and accessible for future generations. Advantage Preservation is a proud to be a partner in the State Historical Society of Iowa’s mission, and together we hope to engage other like minded Iowans in helping us preserve Iowa’s past, and ensure its future…

Advantage Archives is an Iowa company. The owners and employees are all Iowans. We live, work, and play right here in Iowa.  We have a long-standing relationship with the State Historical Society of Iowa, and other state agencies… and a deep-rooted affinity for our history. With the introduction of the IAhistory initiative, the team at Advantage Archives has the privilege of taking an even more active role in preserving and providing access to the “first draft of Iowa’s history”. The message and the mission is clear:
